The purpose of this website is to offer products, services, and training in all things pertinent to Expedition Travel.
What is an Expedition? The word seems to have been borrowed from Old French expédition, which was inherited from the Latin word expeditio(n) meaning "military campaign" An expedition suggests a journey or excursion by foot [Greek word "pedi"] undertaken for a specific purpose. The word was often used in connection with a military objective: "an expedition against an enemy stronghold". I like to retain the typical strategic military preparation and organizational aspects that enable independence in the field but instead applied to a recreational journey with friends and family to discover and appreciate the beauty around us.
What is a Guru? The word suggests a: a person with knowledge or expertise, b: a teacher and especially intellectual guide in matters of fundamental concern c: one who is an acknowledged leader or chief proponent.
Both Bob and I look forward to learning a great deal from you and look forward to sharing what we have learned with you. The notion of being a "Guru" suggests a continuous quest for knowledge and experience.
